With 33 participants enrolled, this new edition of the “Eco Challenge” took place in parallel with the mythical and international “Baja Aragón”, which brought together the very best Raids drivers and where Mitsubishi has also been centre stage with both the Montero and the L-200.
Under changeable climatic conditions, the Eco Challenge started with a difficult first part involving navigation, where the drivers’ objective was to follow a roadbook without going off the correct path and at the same time consuming as little as possible. The second part of the challenge took place on the same tracks along which the Baja Aragón drivers had passed only minutes earlier. Finally, there was a complex and technical test of night orientation, where the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV showed that it is not afraid to go triumphantly through places intended for the purest of off-road vehicles.
After completing the three tests, it was a simple question of waiting for the final results: Pepe Barba and Noemí Alonso prevailed in the rankings for both navigation and consumption in the hybrid vehicles category. A great success for a car that has been on the market for such a short time but which is already demonstrating its potential.
