SK Bergé in the Copa del Rey 2013

The “Mitsubishi” sailing yacht, whose crew was captained by the Chilean Horacio Pavez and which had Eduardo Reid at the helm, finished third in the Soto 40 class in the “Copa del Rey”  that was contested on the coast of Mallorca between the 27th of July and 3rd of August.

The origins of this prestigious competition date back to 1982, when the “Asociación Nacional de Cruceros” (National Cruisers Association) and the “Real Club Náutico de Palma” (Palma Royal Sailing Club) jointly organised the first edition of a regatta that was open to all classes.Even in that initial edition, 50 crews took part in the championship, starting what is now known as the “Copa del Rey” (King’s Cup). Now in its thirty-second edition, the “Copa del Rey” has become one of the most important sailing events on the international calendar.

The prizes were awarded to the first three finishers in each of the eight participating classes on the evening of 3rd August, on a large walled esplanade under the old Palma cathedral, where the crew of the “Mitsubishi” received its well-deserved trophy from his Royal Highness the Prince of Asturias.

The “Mitsubishi” boat had the support of “Mitsubishi Motors Company Chile”, which is part of SKBergé.
