Jesús Zabalza, Executive Vice President of the Americas Division at Banco Santander, and Fernando d’Ornellas, CEO at Bergé y Cía, have just signed an agreement to constitute a joint venture for vehicle financing in Peru.
The new company, called Santander Consumo Perú, strengthens both partners’ strategic vision regarding the automotive sector and its financing in Latin America, which started in 2007 when Santander Consumer Chile was constituted.
Banco Santander is the top bank in market capitalisation in the Euro zone, and the main financial group in Latin America. It has been present in Peru since the mid-90s.
SKBergé is the main independent vehicle distributor in Latin America, and a subsidiary of Sigdo Koppers – one of the main industrial groups in Chile – and of Bergé y Cía – the main independent vehicle distributor in Spain and Portugal.
The company has been solidly positioned in Peru since it started its activity there in 2000. It is currently the Kia, Mitsubishi, Fuso, MG, Chery, Fiat and Alfa Romeo distributor in Peru.
