The greatest triathlete of all time, Javier Gómez Noya, has just been presented with one of today’s most prestigious prizes, the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports. Gómez Noya, the image of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, is deservedly considered one of the best athletes of all time, and not only in Spain.
This is the fifteenth time that this honour has gone to a Spanish athlete, and while he has been nominated in previous years, the Jury awarding the accolade this time considered Gómez the worthy winner. The athlete had this to say on hearing the news: “I’m delighted and grateful to receive an award of this stature, which is very important for me and for my sport, the triathlon. I’m happy because this puts the triathlon on a par with other sports and encourages me to keep working hard. I’d also like to express my gratitude to those who support me and thank them for always being there,” he declared.
The five-time world triathlon champion has a very close affiliation with Mitsubishi España and the brand in general, as Javier drives an Outlander PHEV. This vehicle helps him greatly whenever he travels, not only to daily training, but also to the competitions in which he takes part.
Gómez Noya, who has also won four European Triathlon Championships and an Olympic silver medal, is highly focused on preparing for this summer’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where he is one of the strong favourites for the gold medal.
Both Mitsubishi España and Javier Gómez Noya have built a brilliant success story based on values such as sacrifice, strength, resilience and the will to win. These values have inspired them to conquer all the challenges they have faced and overcome all the obstacles they have encountered on the way.
